nach etwa einem monat in las palmas und unzähligen - leider spanischen - bieren mit vielen lieben leuten auf verschiedenen booten, kneipen und dissen, lassen wir die knapp 400 boote, die sich fieberhaft auf die transatlantikregatta ( ARC ) vorbereiten, auf gran canaria zurück, und machen uns auf nach la gomera. bin mal sehr gespannt ob wir das eine oder andere boot in der karibik wieder sehen werden.

die fahrt nach gomera war trotz der 28stündigen dauer relativ wenig anstrengend. denn dank Karsten, der auf gran canaria lebt und der unbedingt einmal segeln wollte und obendrein auch noch nie auf gomera war, waren wir zu viert, was sich besonders günstig auf den nachtwacherhytmus ausgewirkt hat. die insel selbst hat zunächst etwas mit allen inseln dieser welt gemeinsam, nämlich das rundherum wasser ist. was ungewöhnlicher ist, ist dass sie wie gran canaria auch einen hohen berg in der mitte hat, der die wolken, die meistens aus nord-osten kommen, aufhält und zum ausregnen bringt. somit ist die insel im norden sehr feucht und grün, während sie im süden eher trocken und wüstig ist. wir nehmen zum ersten mal in unserem leben an einem offiziellen seglerstammtisch teil und lernen auch hier viele leute kennen, die über den atlantik wollen. allerdings ohne mitgliedswimpel der ARC. einige kennen die strecke schon, doch die allermeisten von ihnen gehen genau wie wir dieses wagnis zum ersten mal ein. insgesamt führt das auch hier zu einer geschäftigen stimmung im hafen, denn alle bereiten sich auf ihre weise, so gut wie es geld, zeit und stauraum zulassen, auf das unbekannte vor. wir bleiben zweieinhalb wochen, und verabschieden uns auch hier von einigen neuen bekannten und kollegen, von Karsten, von Felix und beihnahe auch von Eva. dann wäre ich alleine mit der ollen aber inzwischen liebgewonnenen Kismet losgefahren.

doch Eva überwindet ihre zweifel und stellt sich mutig der herausvorderung. da bin ich aber froh, dass ich nicht mit mir selber reden muss auf einer so langen fahrt, und ausserdem ..... 4 augen sehen mehr als zwei, vorallem weil man sich nachts abwechseln kann, und sich nicht total auf die zahlreichen elektronischen helferlein verlassen muss.

wichtige erlebnisse :

wurde beim fischen in einer schönen ankerbucht von einem giftigen drachenfisch gestochen ( musste ins krankenhaus ); am nächsten tag hatte ich wieder pech und hab nach eineinhalb stündigem kampf, einen recht grossen rochen verloren. er hat uns mit samt unserem beiboot über zwei meilen weit aus der ankerbucht gezogen bis er sich vom haken losgerissen hat; wir haben bei einer wanderung durch regenwaldähnliche gegenden, einen etwa 500 meter langen stockdunklen, brachliegenden stollen durchquert was so ein bischen an den armen Frodo Beutlin erinnert hat; Eva hat viele fotos gemacht; wir haben die fenster endlich abgedichtet und natürlich meistens morgens gefrühstückt, bisschen später mittaggegessen um dann irgendwann nach dem abendessen ins bettchen zu fallen.
