noch ein zwei wochen in der dominikanischen republik, und wir beschliessen, ganz ohne wehmut, weiterzuziehen. allerdings bekommen wir eine e-mail von so etwas wie der küstenwache von Haiti, in der sie die segler davor warnen, zu dicht an der haitianischen küste entlangzufahren oder gar dort an einen landfall zu denken. es sind viele flüchtlingsboote unterwegs, gnadenlos überfüllt, die würden nicht zögern ein weiteres boot zu entern wenn es denn bedeuten würde, dass sie ihr land verlassen können. ausserdem gibt es nachbeben, was auch in küstennähe auf dem wasser gefahr bedeutet. eigentlich möchte man ja am liebsten helfen, all den proviant und die halbe krankenstation die wir mit uns rumfahren, dort abladen, aber wir würden uns nur selbst in gefahr begeben. also beschliessen wir, zusammen mit dem segelboot Odin, einen grossen bogen um Haiti zu machen, auch wenn das wiedermal bedeutet, 3-5 tage am stück unterwegs zu sein.
so ist es dann auch, nach 4 tagen und 4 nächten machen wir beim ersten tageslicht in der marina von Santiago de Cuba länggseits an der pier fest. Odin ist schon seit gestern nachmittag da. aber auch nur, weil sie 18 stunden mit dieselspinnaker (motor) unterwegs waren, während wir, sportliche segler eben, auch bei wenig wind und nur 2 knoten geschwindigkeit, schön weitersegelten. bevor wir auch nur hallo sagen können, geht das einreiseprozedere los. wir haben davon schon gehört, aber es übertrifft alle unsere erwartungen.
es kommen nacheinander ungefähr 5 oder 6 verschiedene behörden an bord, immer mindestens zu zweit, meistens sogar zu dritt oder viert. die ersten kommen mit mundschutz und gummihandschuhen und machen einen groben gesundheitscheck mit uns. das ganze boot wird nach möglichen eingeschleppten krankheiten untersucht, nach tieren und tierchen (insekten) durchfilzt, und so weiter. die medizinier geben sich mit der einwanderungsbehörde die hand, welche in jeden schrank guckt, ob da nicht ein kleiner haitianer drinsitzt. dann kommen die drogenfahndung und der zoll. das dauert am längsten. ein cockerspaniel wird durchs schiff gejagt. aber scheinbar trauen sie dem spürsinn des hundes nicht wirklich. es ist mehr so, also wollten sich nicht, dass der arme arbeitslos wird. also müssen sie selber ran. sie sammeln den staub aus den ritzen zwischen den bodenbrettern auf, und verschliessen ihn in plastikbehälter. fürs labor zur untersuchung. während ein beamter mit Börni das boot von aussen filzt, pendle ich zwischen sofa und vorschiff, um dem einen beamten, der einen riesenhaufen papierkram zu erledigen hat, informationen zuzuschieben, und um dem anderen beamten über die schulter zu schauen, der alles, aber auch wirklich alles öffnet, durchwühlt, beschnüffelt, proben von staub und krümeln nimmt und sich irgendwann, als er das schapp zum vorschiff findet und öffnet, geschlagen gibt. er versucht kurz, sich ein, zwei zentimeter voranzuarbeiten, stellt fest, dass hier alles so dicht reingestopft ist, dass es sich nicht bewegen lässt und tut ganz cool so, als hätte er jetzt alles gesehen, was er sehen wollte. ich kann mir ein schmunzeln nur schwer verkneifen. Börni muss in der zwischenzeit all die mülltüten, die sich in der letzten woche angesammelt haben, öffnen und alles was sich darin befindet rauspulen, muss die schön zusammengefalteten segel wieder auseinanderfalten, muss unsere cockpitkissen von ihren bezügen befreien, muss fest verschraubte bodenbretter öffnen und so weiter und so fort. sie finden nix.
dann kommen noch diverse andere leute, ich kapier gar nicht mehr wer das alles ist und was die wollen. ungefähr 3x wird von 3 verschiedenen grüppchen alles ess- und trinkbare untersucht, nach insekten oder samen, die man nämlich auch nicht mit einführen darf. oder nach verdorbenem. nach 4 stunden ist das meiste erledigt (morgen kommt dann nochmal jemand) und wir dürfen endlich an land. alles in allem muss man aber hervorheben, dass die behörden ausnahmslos sehr freundlich waren und genauso geduldig mit uns wie wir auch mit ihnen waren.
